Its primary function is to allow two people to communicate with each other, while also ensuring that they remain in range.
Two-way radio communication range depends on the power output of each radio, which varies depending on the frequency and obstructions. The radio’s power output is also a factor, as the higher the wattage, the longer the distance that two-way radios can cover. The longer the distance they cover, the more energy they require. For example, a low-power handheld two-way radio can be a thousand feet away from a high-power radio tower.
