What is a Walkie Talkie?

A walkie talkie is a portable radio transmitter that can be used to communicate between people in close proximity. The device was created by Al Gross, an engineer who worked for the Office of Strategic Services, which later became the Central Intelligence Agency. Gross's walkie-talkie was codenamed Joan/Eleanor.
